David A. Gerson, CPA
President
Dave earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Pace University in New York in 1982. After passing the CPA examination that same year, he began his accounting career in his father’s practice, gaining experience in the profession from the ground up.
In 1992, Dave founded Gerson & Associates with a commitment to providing clients with
personal attention, practical advice and dependable professional service. Over the years, he has guided the firm as it developed a particular expertise in accounting and auditing for labor unions and multi-employer benefit plans, while continuing to serve individuals and businesses across abroad range of accounting and tax needs.
Today, Dave remains actively involved in the firm’s client relationships and in all areas of public accounting, including tax preparation and advisory services, as well as trust and estate planning. His hands-on approach and long-standing relationships with clients continue to reflect the values on which he built the firm.
Mark F. Tiedemann, CPA
Principal, ERISA Audit Manager
Mark earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Fairfield University and his Master of Science in Accounting from Montclair State University. He joined Gerson & Associates in 2013 and became a licensed CPA in 2025.
As Principal and ERISA Audit Manager, Mark leads the firm’s Employee Benefit Plan audit practice. He works closely with third-party administrators, investment managers and other benefit plan professionals and serves as a primary point of contact throughout the audit process.
Carol J. Burek, CPA
Senior Manager
Carol earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Bloomfield College, New Jersey, in 1988 and became a licensed CPA in 2001. She joined Gerson & Associates in 1996 and has extensive experience in accounting and auditing for labor unions and Employee Benefit Plans.
Carol manages the firm’s Local Union audit engagements and works with many of our small business clients. She also provides business and individual tax preparation services.
Ryan O. Sievers
Senior Auditor; Supervisor Employer Payroll Compliance Audits
Ryan earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University in 2013 and joined Gerson & Associates in 2016 as an Employer Payroll Compliance Auditor.
Through his strong analytical skills and leadership, Ryan has advanced within the firm and now leads the Employer Payroll Compliance Audit department. He also provides support for the firm’s Employee Benefit Plan audit engagements.
Nicole K. Jaskot
Senior Accountant
Nicole earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Ramapo College of New Jersey in 2020. She joined Gerson & Associates as an intern in 2018 and became a full-time employee following graduation.
Nicole provides accounting and audit support for thefirm’s small business, labor union and Employee Benefit Plan clients. She also assists with income tax preparation for individual clients and is currently pursuing her CPA license.
Spencer D. Ghiraldini, CPA
Senior Accountant
Spencer earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Connecticut in 2024, with minors in Accounting and Computer Science. He joined Gerson & Associates in August 2024 and became a licensed CPA in 2025.
Spencer provides accounting and tax preparation services for individual and small business clients and is also a member of the firm’s labor union and Employee Benefit Plan audit teams.
David A. Carvajal
Senior Accountant
David earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Montclair State University in 2023, followed by a Master of Science in Accounting and a certification in Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination. He joined Gerson & Associates as an intern in 2022 and later became a full-time employee.
As a Senior Accountant, David provides accounting and audit support for the firm’s Employee Benefit Plan clients and assists with the preparation of Forms 5500 and 990. He is currently pursuing his CPA license and is fluent in Spanish.
Sophie C. Gerson
Office Manager
Sophie earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Villanova University and began her career in the advertising and media sales industry in New York City. She joined Gerson & Associates in 2015 and serves as an Administrative and Accounting Assistant.
Sophie providesbookkeeping services for the firm’s small business clients and supports the firm’s audit engagements, administrative functions and day-to-day operations.
Robert Iarossi
Information Technology Manager
Bob is a graduate of William Paterson University in NewJersey and has been with Gerson & Associates for more than 30 years.
As Information Technology Manager, Bob oversees the firm’s technology infrastructure, including hardware and software installation and maintenance, data backup and protection, VPN services and cybersecurity
