David A. Gerson, CPA
President
Dave graduated from Pace University in New York in 1982 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. That same year, he passed the CPA exam and began his career working in his father’s accounting practice.
In 1992, Dave founded Gerson & Associates. Under his leadership, the firm has become experts in the specialized area of accounting and auditing for labor unions and multi-employer benefit plans.
In addition to his work with employee benefit plans and labor organizations, Dave is actively involved in all areas of public accounting, including tax preparation and advisory services for individuals and businesses, as well as trust and estate planning.
Mark F. Tiedemann, CPA
Principal, ERISA Audit Manager
Mark graduated from Fairfield University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and earned his Master of Science in Accounting from Montclair State University. He joined the firm in 2013 and became a licensed CPA in 2025. As Principal and ERISA Audit Manager, Mark leads the firm’s Employee Benefit Plan audit practice and serves as the primary liaison with third-party administrators, investment managers, and other benefit plan professionals.
Carol J. Burek, CPA
Senior Manager
Carol has been an employee of Gerson & Associates since 1996. She graduated from Bloomfield College, NJ and received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1988 and became a CPA in 2001. She has extensive accounting and auditing experience with Labor Unions and Employee Benefit Plans. Carol manages our Local Union Audits, many of our small business clients and does business and individual tax preparation.
Ryan O. Sievers
Senior Auditor; Supervisor Employer Payroll Compliance Audits
Ryan graduated from Rutgers University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and began his career with the firm in 2016 as an Employer Payroll Compliance Auditor. Demonstrating strong analytical skills and leadership, he has advanced within the organization and now runs the department. He also provides support with our Benefit Plan audits.
Nicole K. Jaskot
Senior Accountant
Nicole graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 2020. She joined the firm as an intern in 2018 and became a full-time employee after graduation. She provides accounting and audit support for our small business, Labor Union, and Employee Benefit Plan clients as well as income tax preparation for our individual clients. Nicole is a CPA candidate.
Spencer D. Ghiraldini, CPA
Senior Accountant
Spencer graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and minors in Accounting and Computer Science. He joined the firm in August 2024 and became a licensed CPA in 2025. Spencer provides accounting and tax preparation services for individual and small business clients and is a team member on the firm’s labor union and Employee Benefit Plan audit engagements.
David A. Carvajal
Senior Accountant
David graduated from Montclair State University in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and earned his Master of Science in Accounting, along with a certification in Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination. He joined the firm as an intern in 2022 and was later hired full time. Now a Senior Accountant, David provides accounting and audit support for the firm’s Employee Benefit Plan clients and assists with the preparation of Forms 5500 and 990. He is a CPA candidate and is fluent in Spanish.
Sophie C. Gerson
Administrative and Accounting Assistant
Sophie graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and began her career in the advertising and media sales industry in New York City. She joined Gerson & Associates in 2015 and serves as an Administrative and Accounting Assistant. Sophie provides bookkeeping services for our small business clients and supports the firm’s audit, administrative, and day-to-day operational functions.
Robert Iarossi
Information Technology Manager
Bob is a graduate of William Paterson University, NJ He has been working for us for more than 30 years. Bob manages all of our computer technology including, hardware and software installation and maintenance, back-up protection, VPN and Cyber-Security.
