David A. Gerson, CPA
President
Dave graduated from Pace University, NY in 1982 with a BBA in Business Administration-Accounting. That same year he passed the CPA exam and began his career working for his father’s practice. They became partners in 1992 and Dave took over as the principal of the firm in 1998. Under his leadership, the staff at Gerson & Associates have become experts in the niche arena of Accounting and Auditing for Labor Unions and Multi-Employer Benefit Plans. Additionally, he is active in all other areas of public-accounting including tax preparation and advising for individuals, businesses, trusts and estate planning.
Carol J. Burek, CPA
Senior Manager
Carol has been an employee of Gerson & Associates since 1996. She graduated from Bloomfield College, NJ and received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1988 and became a CPA in 2001. She has extensive accounting and auditing experience with Labor Unions and Employee Benefit Plans. Carol manages our Local Union Audits, many of our small business clients and does business and individual tax preparation.
Mark F. Tiedemann, CPA
Audit Manager
Mark graduated from Fairfield University, CT in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He earned his Master of Science in Accounting from Montclair State University in 2013 which is when he joined the firm. Mark became a licensed CPA in 2025. He’s the manager of our Employee Benefit Plan audit department.
Nicolas Vicchio
Senior Auditor; Supervisor, Employer Payroll Compliance Audits
Nick retired from the Cliffside Park, NJ Police Department in 2013 after a 27-year career as an Officer and Tour Commander. He graduated from Saint Peters College, NJ with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1995 and a Master of Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University, NJ in 2015, the same year he started working at Gerson & Associates. His background in law enforcement has proven to be invaluable in his current role supervising and performing Employer Payroll Compliance Audits. Nick is fluent in Italian.
Ryan O. Sievers
Senior Auditor
Ryan is a Rutgers University, NJ graduate obtaining his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 2013. He joined the firm in 2016. Ryan performs Employer Payroll Compliance Audits and provides support with our Benefit Plan Audits.
Sophie C. Gerson
Administrative and Accounting Assistant
Sophie graduated from Villanova University, PA in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and went to work in the Advertising & Media Sales industry in NYC. After taking time out to raise her two sons, she joined Gerson & Associates in 2015. Sophie performs bookkeeping for small business clients, audit support, and administrative tasks to help support her husband and his business.
Nicole K. Jaskot
Senior Accountant
Nicole graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 2020. She joined the firm as an intern in 2018 and became a full-time employee after graduation. She provides accounting and audit support for our small business, Labor Union, and Employee Benefit Plan clients as well as income tax preparation for our individual clients. Nicole is a CPA candidate.
David Carvajal
Staff Accountant
David graduated from Montclair State University in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and he earned his Master of Science in Accounting and a certification in Forensic Accounting & Fraud Examination in 2024. He joined Gerson & Associates as an intern in 2022 and was later hired as a Staff Accountant providing accounting and audit support for our Labor Union and Employee Benefit Plan clients. David is a CPA candidate and is fluent in Spanish.
Susan L. Gerson, BSMT (ASCP)
Welfare Claims Auditor
Sue received her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology in 1982 from Fairleigh Dickinson University, NJ and has been an employee of the firm since 1997. She performs the Welfare Claims Audits for Gerson & Associates. She has extensive experience as a Medical Technologist for both Pascack Valley and Hackensack Meridian Hospitals.
Spencer D. Ghiraldini
Accounting Intern
Spencer graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, a minor in Accounting and a minor in Computer Science. He joined the firm as an intern in August, 2024 and has been doing a wide range of audit and tax work getting a well-rounded internship experience. Spencer is a CPA candidate.
Robert Iarossi
Information Technology Manager
Bob is a graduate of William Paterson University, NJ He has been working for us for more than 30 years. Bob manages all of our computer technology including, hardware and software installation and maintenance, back-up protection, VPN and Cyber-Security.
